friday march 20th

hello all,

hope monday was good to you.

for friday I want to see a full dummy of your catalog, will all prospective content in place and sequence (text & images). By dummy I mean a folded “comp” of your book in actual format, trimmed to scale. this facilitates sequence & pagination review and allows for the flow, rhythm & composition of the book to present itself. Please see the notes posted on friday 13 that delineate what I expect content-wise. I suggest you make a thumbnails page of your entire catalog—as discussed in our last class—, this is incredibly helpful for organization & content breakdown.

I want to see 10 spreads per section (chapter) the idea here is that you create a full spectrum of your book, the bigger picture so to speak— and use the spreads for typographic variations BUT keep your design to one grid. You will in turn test the validity of your grid by seeing how it behaves and holds your content in all its variations through sequence. ( a good grid is exactly that: flexible and adaptable to what you need)

any questions please let me know.

push yourselves.

thank you
